Once again SacAnime Winter was held at the Sacramento Convention Center Complex and the Sheraton Grand Hotel, where thousands of cosplayers, fans, and visitors rejoiced and spent majority of their weekend going to particular panels and practicing their consumerism at the vendors, indeed, like prior SacAnimes, it was an ordinary weekend to an unique event.
2013 was a slow year for me consuming entertainment. Balancing a full time job and being a full time parent, you tend to pick certain forms of media over others. Personally, I’ve tried to watch, play, listen, and read stuff that wouldn’t take too much time completing.
Aaru’s Awakening is a hand drawn 2D action platformer. The game requires players to make the most of Aaru’s two mobile abilities – teleportation and charging – as he travels through the world of Lumenox to defeat an evil entity. These two abilities are at the heart of every level design throughout the game, to make a challenging and fluid experience.
The world of Lumenox consists of a balance between Dawn, Day, Dusk and Night. But the balance is being compromised by a dark menace from the domain of Night. As a last hope Dawn sends out his champion, Aaru, to travel all the way to Night’s domain and restore balance.
The game is created with a transcendent, dreamy art style where everything starts on paper. By doing the line on paper we are able to achieve a certain charm that is often lost when an image is done entirely digital – approaching the entire production in a fairly old school way. The music is carefully crafted to further enhance your experience with dreamy hymns, that capture the mood of the game. The storyline is expressed through cut scenes.

SUPERHOT is an FPS game where time moves only when you move. This innovative yet remarkably intuitive time control mechanism crates gamplay that has never been seen before. Take your time! Get rid of aggressive enemies with grace, style and the intense satisfaction of watching them fall while you’re dancing in a hail of bullets. With limited ammunition and unforgiving foes every level of SUPERHOT becomes a deadly puzzle. Short and intense action scenes. Dodging bullets. Taking down armed enemies with your bare hands. That’s the essence of SUPER. HOT. SUPER. HOT.

Not many people know of this group so I believe that an introduction is in order. E.S. Posthumus is a music group that produces cinematic style music. Their musical style is a mix of drum beats, with orchestral sounds, electronic sounds as well as beautiful chants. Their compositions are inspired by the Pythagorean philosophy that states “music is the harmonization of opposites, the conciliation of warring elements”. E.S. Posthumus apply this philosophy beautifully in each of their songs. The group have so far released two full albums: Unearthed and most recently Cartographer (feat. Luna Sans) and two singles: Posthumus Zone and Unstoppable. In their most recent album Cartographer, E.S. Posthumus has worked their magic once again. This album in my opinion is superior to its predecessor Unearthed, which I absolutely adore. Cartographer is a two disk album will surely to satisfy all E.S. Posthumus fans. The First disc of […]
